Taking Over Control of Muncie Community Schools
The first of the year, the Indiana state government will officially take over the Community Schools of Muncie. Muncie Community Schools are having financial issues.
In early 2017, the states government assumed control over the Gary community schools. The debt for Gary schools was over 100 million.
The Deputy State Examiner, Tammy R. White, CPA released a report on the financials of Muncie Schools. The numbers are in the millions. In turn, stating the doubt of the ability to stay operational.
Furthermore, she stated property tax caps and enrollment is declining. Further complicating the revenues into the schools. Three primary schools have already shut its doors.
